The mission of this company is to promote reading through a variety of activities and ultimately make reading accessible for everyone. The internet is full of books published already in usable EPUB formats (as well as) in PDF and many other forms; devices also have been made in great quantities, used by many and tossed out or sitting unused. WFTB works to promote reading in two ways:

1. Promoting free sourced, linked, or hosted EPUB/PDF books on an accessible website, with synopsis, and wiki-style articles for each publication that is online, free to access, and easy to navigate yourself into a book worth your time to read. (funded by donations)
2. Recycling E-Readers and tablets and repurposing them into usable e-readers again. Otherwise responsibly recycling them or disposing them.

The Living End (TLE) is a brewing company with a unique perspective on brewables. The Living End understands that for folks who no longer wish to drink alcohol for health reasons are left with little alternatives for their sophisticated tastes.

TLE products are designed to explore intriguing tastes and flavor profiles found in beer, wine, spirits, and other brewables with little to no alcohol in them. TLE is proud to brew quality products that stand on their own as brewed drinks for the discerning connoisseur. TLE products are designed for those wanting to take a break from drinking alcohol, or want to move to something else for health reasons.

LOPR (Lopr.com) (Pronounced Loper)

A Photo Website and Mobile App platform for an online service for horse photography and image repository for official equestrian events and fans of horses.

With or without a contract, photos are professionally taken by a photographer at horse riding events, at club events, and / or when requested. The photos are taken on-site with or without review by the customer immediately and posted based upon the event.

When the riding session is completed by the photographer or customer, the collection is edited, and posted to lopr.com for the customer to agree to the contract proposal (after review of the thumbnails) and pay for a digital download of high quality versions, or request prints be made, or have the photos turned into a booklet.

Summary:

• Web designer and Photographer team
• Photographers attend the event with a wifi-card and take photos and upload them through a “standardized” editing process to the cloud.
• The webdesigner takes the processed images and lists them in event packs for each event online with standard rate packages (e.g. sets up images for a digital download).
• Photo sets are archived online for 1 year retention before being removed.
• Revenue is generated through photo sets that can be contracted shoots, or the parties can purchase photos online afterwards (upon review).

Ring A Ding-Ding

A service that posts funny quotes that are scheduled to a micro-blog platform and reshared to social media. A service that monitors hashtags from a social media service account(s) for a set period of time, than processes their tweets by rank and repeated terms, then using another service like wolfram alpha takes the most popular hashtag or matching hashtag to a quote in a quote database and posts that famous quote to it’s micro-blogging platform… Through a format of “What quote matches this topic: {hashtag: <word>} result: quote from: “…” > post to blog, retweet to twitter.

Example, #I’m Bored, #Throwback Thursday = Quote about Boredom on a date on thursday.

Summary:

• Ring-a-ding-ding is a demonstration of a “listen and respond” bot that can be useful for adept brands interested in quick responses to social media posts by other influencers. 
• Ring-a-ding-ding shows how a service can monitor material, but analyses it for both the author’s mannerisms (like repeated phrases, or quotes) and then seeks to emulate them with a similar quote by categorically matching and choosing a quote.
• Ring-a-ding-ding may be useful for fact-checking instances where the quote tweeted can be quickly found and reposted for accuracy (just depends on which database of information the service can read from.)

(I thought this was great original idea until I saw LatelyAI, very similar concept I had in mind. Except, the challenge with LatelyAI I wanted to solve was the content gap. LatelyAI still needs an author to post a blogpost. What RADD could solve maybe mining data in email, chats, etc. maybe to mine content and post it “for inspiration”.)

Kibosh

This service is a not-for-profit service in coordination with the municipal authorities for partial funding. The service operates as a Taxi-Cab pickup service for drivers in suburban and rural areas.

When the Kibosh service receives a call from its UBER or LYFT accounts, it dispatches two drivers in a vehicle supplied by one of the hired drivers (like a personal vehicle) or by one licensed and registered by the agency; and that has an UBER account.

This service can even be used by a designated driver to a party, when an app is developed, to do ride cost sharing (e.g. Tip the designated driver). How the service operates, app, company, or service otherwise is once the vehicle arrives at the establishment, the second driver steps out and takes the keys from the patron and both the cab driver, the patron, and the second driver in the patron’s vehicle go in a caravan to the patron’s home. The vehicle is left in the patron’s driveway and the taxi drivers are paid the second driver hops in the cab with the first driver to the next call. Costs are cheaper than a cab, since some of the prices are subsidized by the local municipality trying to reduce drunk driving. 

Summary:

• Taxi service that operates at night to reduce drunk driving incidents (Target-Zero)
• Non-profit partially paid by municipal funding for the service
• Start-up costs are phone number, website, UBER account, 4-Door New-ish vehicle, insurance, two drivers, and a dispatcher.

• Drivers arrive to a location, pick up the patron and vehicle, ferry back to the patron’s address, get paid by UBER or some online payment (no cash if possible).

Beat Feet

(Micro Company Concept 1.)

Beat Feet is a massive online community of bird watchers, bird enthusiasts, and folks willing to share unique views of bird life and bird habitats through the use of Beat Feet software and homebrew hardware.

Beat Feet is a unique app platform that runs on small computers with sensors (camera, microphone, sizeometer, etc.) or old phones and devices. Once setup to your home wifi, and plugged into a power adapter Beat Feet uses the device to monitor the environment for sounds, and movement, and profiles of birds that it identifies and displays them on your community profile like “Total number of birds in my area, total types, different categories, frequency, etc.”

Users who download and install Beat Feet to their devices, and agree to share data with Beat Feet, will get a standard user membership for free to use Beat Feets’ online repertoire of other user supplied videos and global statistics on birds. Guests to the site are encouraged to register, but can watch a few sponsored feeds with an unpaid membership. Exclusive subscribers to Beat Feet get access to HD prints and photos supplied by sponsored members in the PRO Photo section. Also in the PRO Photo section, standard members or contributors can upload high resolution photos of birds spotted for others to request prints of or download them (for a royalty fee given to the artist and a small percentage fee to Beat Feet for hosting costs.)

Last week I stumbled upon a website article that posted a few graphics of logos made by combining two objects together and making a creative logo out of it. I thought the activity could use some additional creativity and I was the one to give those logos some life.

Designer Creates Clever Brand Logos By Combining Two Different Objects Into One

As a job hunter, typically in each job posting there’s a blurb or paragraph about the company. So what I did was I imagined a company with a summary of the main points and invented about a dozen start-up ideas or concepts.

Activity (Rules):

1. For each logo, create a short slug or “elevator pitch” for a company idea that takes little startup money, or much really to do (a Micro-Company).
2. For each company I pitch (on the elevator) I need to have a summary or bullet point follow-up to the basics about each company (revenue, industry, costs, etc.)
3. Post each company idea or “Micro-Company Concept”, with logo, and summary to my blog (as a feeling of completion.)
